More Government support for community radio stations
Community radio stations have an additional chance to access Government support to help through the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ofcom have already provided over £400,000 of grants to 111 stations, awarded by the Community Radio Fund Panel. Due to the pandemic, an additional £200,000 has been made available by DCMS for a third funding round in this financial year.
Applications are now open for grants of up to £7,500, with any application greater than this not being considered.
Entries must be received by Ofcom by 5pm on Thursday 14th January 2021. And Ofcom recommend to any station wishing to apply to read the panel's previous decisions to understand what is likely to make a successful application.
Applicants that have already received funding from any of the £750million Covid-19 Charities Package, including through other government departments, the Community Match Challenge, the Covid-19 Community Support Fund or the Big Night In, will not be eligible to receive this funding.

Ujima Radio fined for failure to provide finance report?
A £300 fine has been imposed on Bristol community radio station Ujima Radio for failing to produce its annual finance report on time by Ofcom.
Ujima Radio was required to submit its 2018 finance reports in March 2019 under its licence conditions, but missed the deadline by over three months.
This is the second consecutive breach of this nature that we have recorded against Ujima Radio, and we consider a statutory sanction is warranted. Ujima Radio must pay a financial penalty of £300 to HM Paymaster General.
Ujima Radio broadcasts to communities in the St Paul's and Easton areas of Bristol.
With the Media Operations System you can log all your income and expenditure to keep record keeping straightforward with the various reports and searches that you can run. This will help make sure that you can provide financial reports easily and avoid fines.

Norwich Community Radio Station Releases Charity Single
Future Radio has been broadcasting in Norwich since 2000 but has recently lost their home due to the pandemic. Now they have released a charity single to raise money to help them find a new home to continue broadcasting.
At the start of lockdown, Future Radio's landlord, Open Youth Trust, sadly closed its doors, and the community radio station has been operating remotely since then. Now work is underway on the long and costly process of relocating the station to a new home.
The single can be purchased online at http://www.futureradio.bandcamp.com/ and costs just £1.
