Government bailout to 81 community radio stations

Having received 202 applications for a Government bailout, Ofcom has made it's first round of grants to struggling community radio stations

A Government bailout totalling over £333k has been given to 81 struggling community radio stations in the UK, Ofcom has announced.

The total amount available for community radio stations was £406,810 yet Ofcom received 202 applications for a bailout that totalled over £1.8m.

The emergency funding measures was in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, adapting the existing community radio funding. A further round of funding will be open in around six weeks time according to Ofcom to award the remaining funds available.
