More plans to switch off AM transmitters

More AM transmitters are set to be switched off as Ofcom consults on plans by talkSPORT to switch off four of their 22 AM transmitters.
As the price of maintenance of the older technology increases and the number of listeners declining, talkSPORT are planning to reduce their AM output and Ofcom are minded to approve.
It follows the move by Absolute Radio who switched off all their AM transmitters earlier this year, a move that has resulted in Ofcom revoking their licence and now considering the fine to be imposed.
