The Media Operations System blog contains tips and advice on the various tools within the system as well as wider advice about radio stations.
Using social media can be a great benefit for your radio station and drive up engagement with your listeners.
Social media has opened up new ways for your listeners to interact with your station, no longer having to rely on phone calls and texts.
With most social media channels, the best advice is to post consistently and frequently, although the definition of frequently will vary for each platform. Posting several posts a day on X (formerly Twitter) would be quite normal but for Instagram and sometimes Facebook just once or twice a day can be best. On TikTok, posting too frequently can negatively impact previous posts so it's always best to delay posts until the level of views has plateaued.
Before deciding which social media platform you want to use, it's best to consider who your target audience is and which platform the majority of those use. For example, there's little point using TikTok if you're trying to target over 50s or using Facebook to target under 20s.
With the #MediaOperationsSystem you can integrate Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram to keep your listeners updated with all your station news and upcoming shows. It also allows your listeners to message the studio and for your presenters to be able to see the messages even if they don't use the platforms or the need to share passwords.
